  • “Aloha Princess is a heartwarming film with colorful characters, and plenty of humor, drama, and conflict to keep an audience entertained. The concept of an aspiring filmmaker who needs tuition money learning she's Hawaiian royalty is a fun, unique concept that is appropriate for the family genre. The element of her father dying and there being confusion about how he died works well as a kind of crime plotline that adds to the well rounded tone of this film. Kalani is a strong protagonist because she has a clear goal - to get into film school and leave "the rock". And she has plenty of obstacles in her way for her to overcome. The plot twist of her finding out that she's Hawaiian royalty gives this film a point of difference that makes it stand out from others of its kind. The Hawaiian element is appealing both in terms of the world that's set up and in terms of diversity and marketing. The dialogue is generally natural and conversational, which makes the script easy to read. There are humorous lines that nicely break up the tension and provide relief from the drama throughout.”
